Free School Meals

At the moment, all children in Key Stage 1 and Early Years are eligible for Universal Free School Meals. This is a government initiative and is not to be confused with other entitlement to Free School Meals, which is available to children of any age whose parents are receiving certain benefits, as listed below.

Free School Meals can only be awarded if you or your partner are claiming either:
  • income support
  • job seekers allowance – income based
  • employment and support allowance – income related
  • support under part V1 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • child tax credit, provided you are not entitled to working tax credit and have an annual income that does not exceed £16,190
  • guaranteed element of state pension credit.
Please note: Only the benefits listed above qualify for Free School Meals.

Other benefits of claiming Free School Meals.

The school receives additional funding for all children who receive Free School Meals (as well as those who have received Free School Meals at any time during the past 6 years). This is a valuable source of revenue, which enables us, as a school, to ensure that all our children receive the best education and opportunities. If your child is currently eligible for Free School Meals – even if they are in Key Stage 1 and are receiving Universal Free School Meals – please complete the online form below to ensure that you and your child receive maximum benefits, as follows:
  • Free School Meals regardless of age
  • Free milk (all children who receive Free School Meals also receive free milk)
  • Help fund learning opportunities in school
