Sportshall Athletics

Year 3 and 4 Sportshall Athletics - December 2017

An early start for Bramingham's Year 3 and 4 athletics team on 06/12/17 as they made the trip to Inspire to participate in the morning half of the tournament. 11 schools joined Bramingham with a further 13 expected in the afternoon and four from each half destined to qualify for the finals in January.

Bramingham looked fantastic on the track and several teachers from other schools commented on how quick the children from Bramingham were. Special mentions should go out to: our girls 'Over/Under' relay team (Angelina, Alexus, Niccie and Sharon) our boys Obstacle relay team (Ade, Matthew, Alfie and Milan) and our boys 4x1 relay team (Evan, Niall, Marcus and Divine) who all won their races.

We were also very strong in the field, where children took part in two events each from Speedbounce, Vertical Jump, Long Jump, 5 Strides, Chest Push and Javelin.

The nervous wait for the results at the end of the tournament proved well worth it as it was announced that Bramingham qualified for the finals in joint 3rd position and over 100 points ahead of 5th position.

A massive well done to all children who represented us. The team, who are listed below, will have to do it all over again in January. Photos of the squad having fun are also below, along with the full team scores from the morning.

Year 1 and 2 Athletics

Year 1 and 2 Sportshall Athletics Tournament

The first Key Stage 1 Tournament of the half term meant that 10 children from Year 2 were taken to Inspire Sports Village on Wednesday 22nd November 2017 to take part in an athletics tournament. The children took part in several events in total, testing their speed and co-ordination.
Bramingham finished in 12th position overall, a great achievement for 10 children that were representing the school for the first time. A special well done as the team finished 2nd in the sprinting event which is very encouraging ahead of many more athletics events to come in the future.

Year 5 and 6 Sportshall Athletics - November 2017

A 24 strong squad of year 5 and 6 boys and girls travelled to Inspire Sports Village on 15/11/17 to compete in the heats of this year sportshall athletics competition. With the chance to showcase their talents in multiple events, such as; sprinting, chest push, javelin, long, triple and vertical jump and speedbounce, Bramingham's team were keen to impress when competing against 12 other schools in these events.

Bramingham looked very quick on the track, finishing in the top 3 of in the majority of the first round of races, consisting of 6 schools. Times are then compared across the board and teams are given a place between 1st and 12th to determine how many points are scored. However, Bramingham were up against a further 10 schools from the morning competition, with only 8 out of the 22 schools going through the finals in January.

As the events came to an end, all of the afternoon teams came together to eagerly await the results. Bramingham knew that a top four finish would mean they had to do it all again in the new year and the children were ecstatic when it was announced that they had finished in fourth place, qualifying for the next round alongside Pirton Hill, Chantry and Bushmead.

A massive well done to all of the team, sportshall athletics is one of the best events in the entire sporting calendar in terms of promoting teamwork. A number of other schools commented on how supportive Bramingham children were of other schools as well as their own. The full list of results is below as well as the names of the children that represented Bramingham. A special well done to Isabel, Tianna and Naomi, who won the girls javelin event outright.
