It has been lovely to see Foxes settle down into Year 2 coming into class with their smiling faces. Please remember to send your child in with a named water bottle and a rain coat everyday. Pick up timing for Year 2 is 3:30, so please try and collect your child on time. Thank you. 
Please try and do the following on a weekly basis with your child at home: 
  1. Read 3 times a week to become a Star Reader - grown ups, remember to sign the reading record!
  2. Spelling practise of Year 1 and Year 2 common exception words.
  3. DoodleMaths to keep score at 50 stars.
  4. DoodleEnglish and DoodleSpell (5 a day).
  5. Number bonds to 10, 20 and 100.
  6. 2, 5 and 10 times tables.
Foxes will have PE on Tuesdays and Wednesdays 
All PE will be taught outside on the playground or field.
Please ensure your child has trainers and suitable clothing for outdoors, especially as we approach the cold seasons. 
Reading books and record should be placed in the reading box which in the classroom on Mondays and Fridays. These are the days the books will be changed. However please ensure your child has their reading book and their reading record EVERYDAY
 
Weekly spellings will be given out on a Thursday. Please practise his over the weekend.
Please can you return them on a Tuesday so that new spellings can be prepared. Every Thursday you child will have their spelling test in school. The results of these will be written in their home spelling books for you to see. 
Please encourage your child to write down 2/3 sentences each week in their home spelling books with any of the spelling words ensuring their sentences are correctly punctuated.

Our English text we are learning is Pirate Pete. Please try and practice this with your child. I have attached the story map and the text. 
Our Science topic is using everyday materials. Please have a look at the knowledge organiser to see what we will be learning. Why not use this opportunity to do some comprehension and ask questions about it. For example what word means....? What does ..... mean? Can you find...?
Our Geography topic is using direction, continents and oceans. Please have a look at the knowledge organiser to see what we will be learning. Why not use this opportunity to do some comprehension and ask questions about it. For example what word means....? What does..... mean? Can you find...? If you have a globe or an atlas at home please encourage your child to have a look at it and find the different continents and oceans.
