At Bramingham Primary School, we acknowledge that Design and Technology is a fundamental part of our broad and balanced curriculum. Design and Technology enables our pupils to use their imagination and creativity to design, make and evaluate a range of products to solve real and relevant problems. Throughout their time at Bramingham, children build up a repertoire of knowledge, vocabulary, understanding and skills in order to create products for a wide range of users that are fit for purpose. When evaluating existing products, we encourage our children to question how and why past designers have made the choices they have, and to think about this themselves when creating their own products.
Furthermore, it is intended that children will develop crucial life skills within cooking and nutrition. They will be provided with a range of opportunities to learn how to prepare and cook basic dishes throughout their time at Bramingham. This will promote an enjoyment for healthy cooking- an essential skill that will enable pupils to feed themselves and others, affordably and well, throughout their lives.
When our children leave us at the end of Year 6, we aim that they are equipped to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world.
