Writing
"Don't forget - no one else sees the world the way you do, so no one else can tell the stories that you have to tell."
Charles de Lint

Intent

At Bramingham Primary, we aim to equip children with the ability to write with confidence and accuracy as writing is a tool which will support a child through life. It is our intent that every child develops a progressive understanding of grammatical conventions, the way in which punctuation aids understanding and how to apply spelling rules. It is also our intent that all children have a joined, legible and increasingly efficient handwriting style.

We aim to provide each child with a rich vocabulary in order to produce high quality writing for a range of purposes and audience. This is delivered through our Talk 4 Writing programme that encourages creative processes and ensures exposure to a wide range of text types, both fiction and non-fiction. We aim to develop children’s deeper understanding of high quality texts through a focus on reading and questioning, with children applying this knowledge during independent writes across all appropriate areas of the curriculum.
