WheelPower Sports Camp
WheelPower is the national charity for wheelchair sport. They run Primary & Junior Sports Camps where young people with a disability can discover sport in a safe, welcoming and friendly environment.
We have attended 2 of these camps with a group of children. The first was in June 2019 at Brunel University in London where the children had the opportunity to take part in Cricket, Golf, Boccia, Tennis and Basketball. Some of the children brought their siblings along to take part too.
The second was in November 2019 at Cambridge University and the children took part in Table Tennis, Boccia, Laser Shooting, Boxing, Archery and Zone Hockey.
As well as staff from WheelPower there were coaches and athletes from the various sports at each event to help the children. They even got to play Table Tennis with Daniel Bullen, a GB Para Table Tennis Pathway Player whose goal is to compete in the Tokyo Paralympic Games in 2020!
The children and staff have really enjoyed these events and we are already looking forward to the next event at Stoke Mandeville Stadium in February 2020.
